Digital Cemetery — a virtual cemetery and online memorial map

Digital Cemetery is a virtual cemetery and an online memorial map — a modern digital memorial where you can create a free online memorial for a loved one, or visit the graves of famous people from history. It is an infinite online cemetery you can pan and zoom.

What is a digital cemetery?

A digital cemetery (also called a virtual cemetery) is an online space that holds memorial pages instead of physical headstones. Each digital memorial keeps a photo, biography, dates and a family tree, and visitors can light a candle or leave flowers online — from anywhere, at any time.

Digital Cemetery holds the graves of more than two thousand historical figures — scientists, philosophers, composers, painters, writers, kings and emperors — each with a portrait, their years and a short biography.

Among them: Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Nicolaus Copernicus, Charles Darwin, Michael Faraday, James Clerk Maxwell, Carl Friedrich Gauss, Louis Pasteur, Gregor Mendel, Ada Lovelace, Antoine Lavoisier, René Descartes, Immanuel Kant, Voltaire, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, William Shakespeare, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Victor Hugo — as well as monarchs such as Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Louis XIV, Queen Victoria, Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Antoinette.

You can light a candle or leave flowers on any grave, follow an interactive family tree, and create a free memorial page for someone you love — with a photo, their dates and their story. The map has living seasons and weather: autumn leaves drift, clouds cast shadows, rain leaves puddles and storms flash with lightning.

Royal family trees

Great dynasties rest together in family mausoleums, each with a family tree: the House of Habsburg family tree, the Romanov family tree, the British Royal Family tree, the Tudor family tree, the Bourbons, the Medici and other royal family trees.
